I went travelling in 2004 and when I got to the U.S I decided it was time to get my conch pierced ad I thought it would be a good reminder of my trip.
I got it pierced in San Francisco and it was so painful! I’ve had other cartilege piercings before but they were nowhere near as painful as this… It took about a year to heal fully, and when I was finally sure it was ok I changed the jewellery. Unfortunately the bar had gotten stuck and I had to use pliers to remove it! There’s now a user-friendly hoop in there.
I love my conch piercing. I don’t have any other ‘extreme’ piercings so people never expect me to have a lump of metal through my ear. I love seeing their faces when the fully realise what it is and where it goes. But more importantly every time I look at it or touch it I drift off in my memories of the time I spent travelling
