This is happening tomorrow. I have all the ingredients except baking powder (what is up with the major city supermarket here not having baking powder? and its baking section was really illogically organised… tsk) and I need to get a cookie cutter or two. But it’s totally happening tomorrow. Mmmmm.

How I did it: On the first day I searched around the interweb for a few recipes to get the general idea of how hainanese chicken rice was made, and was lucky enough to come across one recipe in particular I felt happy to follow. (-->Steamy kitchen blog, as linked to below.)On the second day I got the ingredients together and made it. It's very straightforward to make but took me a couple of hours as I was doing it on my own and hadn't thought too mu… Read how I did it…
How I did it: 1. Decided I really wanted to do this. I love gingerbread cookies. 2. Looked up recipes online and sifted through them, deciding on 3 possibilities and then choosing the one that most fit what I was feeling at the time - the recipe that included not only ginger powder but nutmeg, cinnamon and ground cloves as well. 3. Bought the ingredients I didn't have. Delayed baking by a day since I hadn't found baking powder in the first supermarket.… Read how I did it…

I was unsure after he first brought it up and during the lead-up to "the day". Even in the car on the way there the other friend and I still hadn't decided whether we were going to go through with it. Even as I signed the liability waiver I hadn't decided if I would go through wit… Read how I did it…

I’ve had this lingering in my mind for a while (the whole plastic soup in the sea news scared me something fierce when it first broke last year) and I think now I can start thinking through how to do this strategically.
The first step is to write down the ways in which I use and accumulate plastic in my life. What are the sources and what happens to the plastic given to me.
I’m so actively avoiding this one for some reason it’s almost kind of funny. Shouldn’t seem like a hard thing to do yet somehow it is.
