This goal seems to have a braod definition. I’ve lived 1000 miles or more from my parents for years so I’m used to flying alone. By traveling alone I mean…
1.) Book a flight OR plan a road trip
2.) Stay at a hotel alone
3.) Do sight seeing in a brand new area alone
4.) MAYBE go out to eat alone….but Subway and pizza are fine by me
I’m a teacher so this is totally doable. Perhaps next summer or over spring break???

Actually, I don’t want to do this at all. My life seems to have turned on its side. But does the following scenario actually qualify as a blind date?
About a week ago, I was a guest speaker at a night class. One of the instructors saw me present and thought she knew someone I’d like to meet. She practically followed me to my car asking me if I was single. The next day, I got an email from the other instructor asking the same thing.
I’m not what you’d call “looking” but I’m single and I’d rather not be so I figured I had nothing to lose to by exchanging some info and seeing what happened. Within a few days, I find myself invited to a dinner party tonight with this guy and several other couples. Some of the couples I know, some I don’t….and they ALL now it’s a set up for me to meet this guy.
I feel awkward as all get out about this. The woman hosting the party has been adamant that she intends no pressure at all and simply wants us to come, have fun, and get a chance to meet some people we wouldn’t otherwise have had a chance to meet.
I want to stay light and positive about this but I have absolutely no idea what to expect and don’t relish the idea that my reactions will be on display for other people (one of whom is a friend that I have a breakfast date with in two weeks).
So….is this even a “real” blind date?
And does anyone have any advice for me? The guy is currently in the same line of work as me which is why these match makers thought we’d have something in common.

Just walked in from the Outback Steakhouse Distance Classic in Jacksonville. FL. My gun time is just a smidge over 2:14:00 and my chip time should be lower.
So glad to have done this!
