A large portion of my wardrobe just got dropped off at the goodwill yesterday. It was a little intimidating and odd to get rid of the items I had been holding on to for so long.
Liberating, for sure, though.

So it’s halfway through the year already, and I am not using my budget very well. The items on there I was told I was getting help with aren’t working because I’m not getting the help I was promised. So, hopefully I’ll be able to make it more manageable.
right now I just sit around and play with web 2.0 things or games… I could be signing up for ChaCha to make some extra money or finishing up my website, or getting purposeful calls out of the way…
The first step they always say is to get the sticker value to shock you into your budgeting.
So here we (embarrassingly) go:
- Credit Cards: 9,380.53 (between 4 cards)
- Medical bills: 2,481.50 (surgeries are lovely, non?)
- Bank of America Loan: 4,250.00
- Car: 5,000.00
- Student Loans (do these count?): 53,731.54 (4 loans)
I’m going to try a method from Dave Ramsey: take all the amount I over pay my minimums and put that money towards the lowest balance, and pay the minimum balances on the rest.
Looking at the scratch pad, I overpay $379 across all the bills. Just from that would eliminate my lowest balance right now.
I’ll also be looking for things around the house to put on ebay, a higher paying job, maybe after tackling a couple other of my goals, I’ll be able to put more money to the debt.
I have to figure out how to balance the extra money to debt vs. savings account ratio.
I should also look into calling the creditors about the interest rates. I’ve had their accounts long enough that I should be able to renegotiate interest rates, correct?
I kept meaning to do this for a couple years now, but school and life kept me from actually doing it… so i’d like to do it this year. (I’ll still admit I’m a little scared..)
I pass by so many interesting things and situations, not to mention that spring has arrived and is in full swing, that I miss out on many opportunities to keep pieces with me
I started a food tracker on sparkpeople.com to help figure out what good and bad food I’m consuming and where (and when) what patterns need to be changed.
I have a (not-so) recently acquired BFA in visual communications, yet still work as an entry level programmer… I can’t say I’m thrilled about it.
I have the design down, and one of the pages coded, but I don’t even have all my content written, let alone organized. I still need to:
- finish writing copy
- create thumbnails from work for portfolio
- code portfolio
- finish content tree
- write and implement forms and 2.0 javascripts.
