Build a Worm Bin
Vermiculture

I think that’s the word for it. Anyway, I was substitute teaching in a kindergarten class last fall…or last spring? Anyway, the regular teacher had left a video for me to show her kids. It was a video about a group of elementary school students who had started their own garden and kept a worm bin going to provide nutritious compost for their garden. It looked so simple to keep going….I mean KIDS were doing it! The cafeteria provided food scraps (vegetation) for the bin and the different grade levels tended the bin.

Ever since seeing the video (which the kinder kids were not really that interested in), I have been interested in building one, myself. I recently downloaded plans for building one. I’m not all that handy with a hammer and nails, but I may take these plans to Home Depot and see if they can help me come up with the materials….then maybe I can find a handy family member who might be interested in heling me build my worm bin.

Plant a lemon tree
Since I am my own lemon tree...

I have finally figured out this one thing in my life. You know the old adage, when life gives you lemons, yada yada yada…Well, I’ve had more than my share of lemons thus far, and it isn’t because life is handing them to me. No, I’ve discovered that I am, in fact, a lemon tree. That’s right. I have been generating my own lifetime supply of lemons all this time. And in honor of this newly discovered truth about myself, I would like to plant a lemon tree in my yard.

Overcome my A.D.D.
Life in a kaleidascope

I was given a prescription for Adderall. Although it does help me focus when I take it, it doesn’t help me undo the mess I’ve created for myself over the past several years of my adult life. It was easy being an underachieving misfit when I was a minor, as I was, at least, a dependent. I’m in my 40’s now…my house is a mess, my career is a mess, my dreams are a mess…
But hope springs eternal, and I suppose that in some potentially positive way, that’s a good thing. I think that as long as I avoid focusing on the loser that I am, and keep focusing on the…hmmmmm….well, the key here is to NOT focus on the loser that I am. Part of overcoming the ADD, of course, will be to discover what the heck it was that I was supposed to be focusing on in the first place. At 45, the “loser” thing is pretty much an “in your face” kind of thing.
