I decided to stop hesitating and over thinking and just do it already. I’m hoping to start Monday.

How I did it: I contacted many people in both the School of Ed and the School of Information about this class and the mandatory observation that goes along with it. By being persistent (pesky??) I managed to get something worked out that suits my needs perfectly. I went yesterday and it was pretty fun. I'm excited to go again and think it will be a great experience. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I invited a whole bunch of people via facebook and invited my friends to do the same. Everyone was told to bring a ridiculous, wrapped gift to exchange. We tried to take the theme of randomness all the way with a wide range of people, crazy gifts, an absurd mixtape of music, and games like Apples to Apples and Pictionary Telephone. In spite of terrible weather (8 inches of snow) a lot of people showed up and all seemed to have a really good time. Read how I did it…

I researched the programs available through my university and chose the one that seemed best for me: short term, advanced classes taught in Spanish, homestay, Latin America. Then it was just a matter of applying, saving up some money, getting a bunch … Read how I did it…

I met with the facilitators for a group yesterday and have decided to give it a try. I think it will be kind of scary/a lot of work, but good for me at the same time.
So I got all the way through the initial meeting with the group facilitator and everything sounded great—it looked like I’d be a good fit for the group and like I could really benefit from it. Then she happened to ask what program I was in. Turns out there is already a group member from my (small) program and chances are we know each other. The facilitator is concerned about confidentiality and so I won’t be able to join. I was pretty mad/disappointed/sad/frustrated about this. I’m meeting with the facilitators for one other group on Monday, but have some doubts whether it will be a good fit for me. We’ll see, I guess…
