I was raised as a Christian, but I am interested in learning about Buddhism. Not so much to become a Buddhist, I’m not sure I want to be a card-carrying subscriber of any faith- since they’re all guided by fallible humans. I want to learn more about kindness, thoughtfulness, trust, and beliefs. Not sure where to take the first step, though.

I do so well, then revert back to my old ways. I.E. consuming a pint of ice cream in less than half an hour, then munching on M&Ms. WHY don’t I just STOP?
On an episode of the Surreal Life: Fame Game, I watched an accomplished chef and Vanilla Ice torture live lobsters. They gutted one of the lobsters while it was still alive. If they had done the same thing to a cat, people would have a field day. I feel like unnecessary cruelty to any creature is sick, demented, and indicative of mental retardation/instability. I don’t protest my friend’s eating a burger or nibbling on crab. I can sit right next to them and enjoy something else, but I hate seeing a casual malice. Sick.
