Id used the ‘ive done this’ button because in theory i quit drinking when i made the decision to take alcohol out of my life, the first time was over a year ago and the last time was sunday. I think by focusing on the ‘ive actually quit’ rather than ‘im quitting again’ or ‘im going to quit could be helpful in thinking of a new me without booze in my life for good… the power of positive thinking, ill give it a go. Im off to AA tonight for the first time in over a year too,,, scary but i think it will be a relief to talk to people with similar problems.

Im off to AA tonight, i went about a year ago, but was too frightened to speak. I guess id never really associated myself with the word alcoholic – just someone who had a hard time, occasionally – more often than not with drink. After a over a year of off and on drinking, Im happy to now say that i dont mind what im classed as long as i can beat the booze for good and talk to people who understand. ALSO my mum who is in the later stages of alcoholism (over 20 years) and has never been ready to accept that her drinking has asked if she can come with me tonight. Im so pleased that she is taking the first step and whilst i know that it may take time for her, she is definitely on the right road.Things are definitely looking up. Wish me luck and the courage to open up!
To devote more time to developing this skill and to become confident in letting others see my work…. if even just around the house!
