WHOO HOO!!! I’m dancing like a butterfly. It took 14 years and many long road trips, but it has all been incredible. My goal was not only to drive through each state, but to take the time to experience each state by visiting local attractions and restaurants.
The highlights of my most recent trip included listening to New Orleans street musicians; wading in the muddy waters of the Rio Grande and throwing rocks across the river to Mexico; watching a cattle drive in Ft. Worth and a rodeo in San Angelo TX; visiting the Alamo and 4 historical missions; diamond ‘mining’ in Arkansas; and topping the trip off with visiting a friend whom I haven’t seen in 15 years.
We’ve slept in some of the best hotels in the country but we’ve also spent many nights camping everywhere from the hot deserts of Arizona, Texas, and Utah to the icy cold mountains of Alaska, to the breezy seashores of Maine and Florida.
We’ve seen so much and done so much, but it is only a drop in the bucket compared to all that we have not yet had a chance to explore in these great United States. My adventure has only just begun!

My husband wanted to be extra special nice to me and bought me his version of a boat for Christmas. It is actually an 8 foot inflatable rubber raft type boat. Gratefully, he was even generous enough to buy oars to go with it. He says he’ll get an electric motor for it “sometime later”—We’ll see how that pans out. So, instead of leisurely relaxing while floating along the river in my version of the lap of luxury, I will be sweating profusely as I use every ounce of strength I can muster to battle every tiny ripple and hoping against hope that the raft doesn’t spring a leak.
His words, “At least it IS a boat and it will be an adventure.”
My words, “If I have to gradually work myself up to a real boat, he’d better plan to be alive and married to me another 120 years, because I’m not letting him go until I get my boat.”
Honestly though, I’m not disappointed at all. Although it is not what I had hoped for, it will be fun and adventurous. Plus, it’s portable and will be very easy to bring with us wherever we choose to vacation.

What a chore! I am so glad it is over. I can finally get rid of the old computer, a tangled mass of cords, and everything else that went with that ancient piece of equipment. What a relief!
