I learned stick when my grandmother gave me her old car. Her sciatica was too bad to use the clutch and (I kid you not) the vehicle was too crappy to sell. Now, ten years later, I am still driving it. I love it. I was living in Arizona and flew to northern California to pick up the car. My uncle taught me stick in about two hours of driving around hillsides, and then I drove all the way back to Arizona by myself. Sounds scary, but I really knew how to drive it by the time I got back home!
