As an OTR driver, I am getting the chance to cover parts of the old route 66. I have about have of MO, 90% of KS, and 30% of OK done. I think I want to revise the goal to do it in one trip, but for now, I am seeing a fading part of American history. I even have a piece of petrified wood from NM.

While in the Marines I was stationed at Beaufort SC, and I would go out to Hunting Island State Park and camp out for weeks at a time. At night I would go down by the shore and build a fire. I don’t think I was ever so much at peace with myself at any other time. You can forget everything else in the world. I long to feel that way again.

I am a Trucker Buddy for a class of second graders in the St. Louis MO area. If you can stand to be alone, this is a great life. To see places you could only dream about and get paid to do it.
