i’m inspired by the google translate facility. I revisited my old myspace page and blogs, and i was able to see all my work in french. It totally amazed me! i do recall a lot of the old french. Though i’ve never been any good at putting it into practice i am still nonetheless intrigued by all words, no matter what language they are in. That’s how i motivate myself to learn; i am fascinated by words. It is like i collect them.
The google translating thing is great. When i translated my old blogs, i was able to recall what i wrote – some of them are short quizzes type things, so i could get the jist of them straight away and they had that inbuilt interestingness to me because they were about things personal to me.
I would say though that it is more accurate if you use;
http://translate.google.com/translate_s?hl=en&clss=&q=&sl=en&tl=fr
, the translated search facility,
which searches for a page in the language your after, so it is originally from, say, french, and then it is translated into english(sometimes a little bit broken, but amusingly so, not terribly so) and then when your nouse points over a sentence, a little google box/ speech bubble shows you what it was originally in french.
IT’s a cool little way to get yourself started.
It amused me for quite a while anyway,
Yours sincerely,
for some reason i nearly put my full name there. No idea why!
