loose 10 kilos (read all 2 entries…)

Today I discovered I have lost 17kg altogether. Finally hard work pays off… now I can concentrate more on building muscle and speeding up metabolism more as I go. My iron and TSH fit in the normal now, so I feel a lot better and willing to do something. This last 2 months I have basically relied on Reductil and it does a good job. If I had done more exercising I think I’d be in my normal already. But oh well, gotta get myself together.

Jan Saudek – The Mandolina Lesson, 1994

I could post most photographs taken by Jan Saudek here but this one is special. I visited a gallery in 2001 where I bought a postcard with this photo on it and it was the beginning of my love and admiration towards the work of Jan Saudek. This year I also got an album book containing all of his works for my birthday. He is the best!

Dark and alluring, strong and spirited, melancholic and passionate, sensual and poetic, aggressive and feminine, charming and certainly stubborn, Nebelhexë has inspired, enchanted (and puzzled!) the alternative music scene since the mid 90s.

Her songs express her deep thoughts, feelings, dreams, visions, obscure experiences and the magic that is surrounding her. Her early love for british Gothic, New Wave and underground music, brought her to London in 1990, where she soon became part of the subculture scenes. Always searching, and always having had an understanding for the supernatural, life’s mysteries and animals, she connected with various magic/pagan/witch circles. Seeking to explore the shadow-side, she became a model in the fetish scene and a known act with notorious artistic performances (such as the Cradle of Filth shows).

Nebelhexë made quite an impact with the obscure, ghostly Dark Ambient project Aghast, which was released in 1994. She was also the woman behind the passionate Folk and tribal melodies of Hagalaz’ Runedance, a project she dedicated to the pagan spirituality of northern Europe. Hagalaz’ Runedance became very popular and hit the German album charts.

Her writings and comments became quite respected. She dares to speak against the inhibiting patriarchal religions that demonised our nature. Many of her social-critical articles and comments are printed in alternative magazines and also in the biggest Norwegian tabloid papers and popular magazines.

Nebelhexë is a multi-artist who clearly runs her own show. She is often referred to as being one of the most intriguing personalities of the subculture. And many simply don’t get her. Her music is placed in many different boxes and always falls in-between categories. And in our stereotype superficial world, this is sadly quite unfortunate if one wants to sell records.

She is her own person, stands by her art and ideals and yes, she creates all her music and visual concepts herself… something that appears to be rather uncommon in today’s music scene, and she wishes there were more women that would create their own music.
