grow my hair long
Almost there 1 month ago

I used to have hair that was waist-length. However, I was eager for a change and cut my hair very short (bob cut). I developed the habit of cutting my hair every few months by my stylist. A few years later, I began missing my long hair. I am East African and so have curly hair. It’s difficult to deal with curly hair when it is short, it is so much easier when it is longer. Plus, I don’t like having to blow dry my hair straight since short curly hair looks strange on me. I miss just washing and going with my curls.

So I’ve stopped cutting my hair about four months ago and my hair is already a bit past shoulder-length. I’m honestly surprised at how quickly it grows (I never stopped cutting long enough to realize). Now I’m so much closer to my goal and I do love my longer hair. It’s a different look and people have noticed. I find that men do approach me more. It’s strange but I suppose that men love long hair. lol I’m not doing this for them, but for me. I really do love my hair when it’s curly and it’s even better when it’s long. :) Can’t wait to see how long it gets in another four months!

see the ocean
Atlantic 1 month ago

I’ve finally seen the ocean two years ago. It was at Brighton, England. It’s very beautiful. The sound of the waves is so calming, it would be a great place to come to think. Too bad I live in a landlocked province in Canada now.

My goal is to see the Indian Ocean that my parents speak so fondly of. They grew up in Somalia by the ocean and always talked about the bright blue-turquoise waters and blue skies. The sand beaches are white and the sun is always shining and seems so close to the earth, perhaps because it’s on the Equator. One day, I’ll see it!

For anyone wondering about the Indian Ocean beaches in Somalia, here’s a picture of Mogadishu (when it used to be peaceful).
