read “The Last Lecture” while we were at the beach. Great book. Makes you think about what’s important.

How I did it: I got a dulcimer for Christmas, and took a class at the local community college. I'll probably get back to it this winter, when I'm not outside as much. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I planted in 3 growing seasons, in containers and on the small bit of land we have for gardening. I asked my co-workers for advice, I read websites, I talked to the farmers at my local farmers market. I did minimal weeding. I watered when I needed too, but most of the time I tried to plant crops that work in my garden zone. I wasn't afraid to make mistakes. (Sometimes the mistakes you make make the best stories!) Read how I did it…
How I did it: We planted tomatoes and herbs at our house, we found 3 different local farmers markets, on Saturday, Sunday and Thursday--this allowed us access to fresh food all week. We spent a lot of time cooking and peeling and freezing food so we could eat local during the winter too. Read how I did it…
See all "How I Did It" stories...
ok, I am counting graphic novels here,
but I finished “Eat, Pray, Love”, and “Out Stealing Horses”
I also read “Persepolis” and “Embroideries” by Marjane Satrapi and finished Mcsweeneys 26: Featuring New Stories from Our Shores and New Stories from Overseas…short stories that I knocked off while I ate my breakfast.
phew
um, yes, well, I may be revising this until September!
Meant to make them as birthday cards. I shall start next Tuesday night!
