Things have been shaken up in my life in a way that has made me realize some truths about myself that I hadn’t known before. In addition to that I’ve come across a person who has ignited a spark within me. Now instead of catering to others constantly and worrying whether their needs are being met, their choices are being supported, whatever it may be … that I actually do have desires and dreams that I never knew were within me. Thanks to a very good friend of mine I know I’m not losing my mind, and I can start exploring some choices of my own, and discover my likes and dislikes.

How I did it: I took an extra day driving to visit my mom. I planned out what I wanted to do and let my family know that I needed this time to myself. It was basically a mini road trip. I had no rush to be at my final destination. I stopped where I wanted to when I wanted to. I had a nice hotel room-and enjoyed a nice meal by myself. It was all very lovely. Read how I did it…
How I did it: It wasn't possible all of the time-but I managed on more than one occaision to diffuse ugly situations. I did not take other people's bait to get into a battle with them. Simple courtesies such as thank you, smiling with eye contact go a long way in this world. Read how I did it…
City noises. Being surrounded by people. Being alone. In your face being alone. Not this tidy yard, tight smile and wave to your neighbor while you grab your mail alone…ness.
