Learnt & sticking with swimming 1 week ago

Took up swimming & have been cross-training running with swimming lately. Has helped my stamina. Quitting smoking doesn’t hurt either. On my track to 68 kg. (right now just about 73)

Drastic reductions and the physical cravings seem to be gone 11 months ago

I had decided to quit quiet a while ago but did it the day I moved to Canada. (You know fresh start and all). It worked quiet well, got out of the circle of smokers. So I have had 3 sticks in the past 16 days and that was with friends not by my own. It’s all in the brain now.

Date of joining and moving fixed. 15 months ago

I didn’t update for about 3 months :) Anyways, apparently the process to get an employee on work permit in Canada takes longer than I thought :(
I will join the new job on 12th Jan 2009. Hooray. Will fly probably the week before that.

On track so far 18 months ago

Well, in the last 2 months, my wife and I have been out for a meal about 3-4 times. I think this is a huge improvement over our earlier frequency of about 8-10 times a month. It surely shows in the savings table. :)

I gave an interview yesterday night for a job in Toronto -- and I think I got it. 18 months ago

Although the process is not yet complete, I think I will get it. Will be working near Yonge street if everything works out. I will probably be there in about 1-2 months since I need to finish up a few things here.

Work around the kitchen is tough too :| 23 months ago

Well cooking apart, a kitchen is a place of work. Live with it. We have to keep it clean coz we prepare food to eat in that area. We have to keep it organized coz we need access stuff while preparing something, else we mess up the dish :(
Well, atleast I personally think this counts as cooking.

Am in very early stage right now 23 months ago

Just last week had my wife’s passport updated with her new name and printed out the Application Papers. Now coming week, the plan is to get the Police Clearance Certificate, after which will fill up my form and send it over to my brother who is in Edmonton. Supposedly, if my relative/sibling/parents etc file the papers, the process is much faster. Its also a bit on the expensive side I must say. Lets see how things go about.

Make Firefox my default browser
I use Linux at my house and strongly suggest this browser to anyone 23 months ago

I have it installed on my work machine and have “uninstalled” IE from that box. I have also installed this on older machines for people who don’t want to upgrade, runs perfectly.

Quit Smoking (read all 2 entries…)
The only thing that makes me wanna do this would be the money I would save. 23 months ago

I smoke about 8-10 cigarettes a day. That costs me about 40Rs. everyday. That makes it 800Rs. a month. Whoa, thats a lot of money right there. Alright, as I have done many times before, at this moment, I will stop smoking. Shit, this is the worst time to start this, the week-end’s coming - parties and a lotta spare time - :(

Now I can cook breakfast for 4 people. 23 months ago

I can now cook pizzas, sandwiches etc for 4 people. Also learning a lot of preparatory work—cutting, dicing, slicing and am picking up speed for sure :) Now I also know how long to cook rice, how to deep fry, and stuff like that.
Now need to move slowly towards the main course.

Have noticed I spend a lot on outside food. 23 months ago

I gave up the offer a couple of times, when my office mates asked for a lunch party. The food’s oily and it costs me a fortune, especially when my salary is not what I would have expected.

I used to be fit but .. 23 months ago

I used to go to the gym regularly and workout 6 days a week. I was quite fit and happy about it. After marraige, I quit and since then have a beer-gut and weigh about 75 kilos. I would like to really lose my beer-gut and fit in my old jeans once again. Tried it once but couldn’t do it, this time I am serious .. Lets see.
