I’ve suscribed to the magazine, Al Jumuah- they’ve done a really great job with it, i highly recommend joining up for the following reasons:
1)Its good for ppl who don’t like reading books- for myself,i dont have al ot of time to read so i find squeezing in a few pages a day makes it hard to understand the book’s overall meaning, so i never end up finishing it. while Al jumah magazines has a variety of short articles on various topics- making it much more intereresting and easy to read
2)from an islamic perspective, i wouldn’t say its approach is ‘extreme’, nor is it ‘mickey mouse’- its somewhere in between, probably veering on the conservative side
3)most of the articles (with the exception of translated versions of great works) are written in an engaging yet informative manner
4)there are articles for the entire family with the following section in each issue: woman’s issues, a message to the youth, parenting tips, activities (eg islamic cross words) for the children, and general articles intended for a mature audience

i’m crazily creative, having started acting since i was 6 years old and loved it ever since. its just that being a pharmacist does not give me the freedom to explore this side of me (i think its almost an alter ego?) so yeah, i need an avenue to vent my energy, but in a way that’s religiously and culturally acceptable. i’m thinking- maybe a drama group with some friends (ie get together every month or so and act out a play?) or later on, when i’ve got the money, i could start a drama program for youth. not only would it cater for the artistically talented, but drama is a great way to build confidence in a non-judgemental environment.
like the nicorette ad: ‘No gary, no gary, no gary NO!’
for those of you who have no idea what i’m tlaking bout, look it up on youtube, really is a great ad.
