I overcame my depression on the day that I HAVE HAD ENOUGH. I have hit rock bottom and stayed there long enough. I have wallowed in my negativities long enough, IT MADE ME SICK. It simply wasn’t working for me anymore. I didn’t like the person I had become. I was turning away the people I held dear. The moment I decided that I didn’t want that anymore is the moment I changed and started reclaiming my old happy self.
When I quit, I did it in an instant. It was a moment of REAL decision. I didn’t want it anymore, I didn’t need it anymore. I associated so much negativity to smoking, and I associated so much positivity to being able to control myself. So I was never even tempted to do it ever again after that. I didn’t need to discipline myself, because I didn’t even think about it.
I think this applies to any addiction, or any habit you want to get rid of. I have applied this technique on other situations, and it works.
If you have enough WHY’s that are compelling and big enough, you will DO IT!
