I want to organize all of the file names and ID3 info using Media Monkey (only seen good reviews for it so far).
Also, I want to use Nullsofts new winamp remote service to listen to my music collection from other PCs across the Internet.

I dont think I will be doing this or trying to do it any longer. I have discovered the Mac! The mac mini that I got, “just worked” straight out of the box. I installed VLC and Remote Buddy, and I have an instant media PC, slick and smart as hell.
No setup, no finagling, pure power.
If you are not sure to go fully Linux because of the extreme amount of work involved in MythTV, pony $700 dollars toward a refurbished Mac.
I really need to do this now, cause I will be getting a somewhat hefty enheritance check from the sale of Grandparents farm in California. It was split up between 9 of us and I get a 5 figure amount. Any ideas on what kind of investments?
