I mentioned to my running partner that I’d like to learn how to knit, but sadly there is a dearth of suitable places to learn here. She said she knew how to knit and she was willing to teach me. So last weekend, we bought yarn and needles and she told me how to make a ribbed scarf.
I worked on the scarf all week. I’ve had to consult a few books (knit 101 and stitch ‘n bitch)and youtube videos because my teacher wasn’t available. So, here it is one week later and the scarf is complete. There are a couple of mistakes, but it still looks great.
So now I have to decide on my next project…maybe an afghan.

Get yourself a running partner, find a training plan, relax about it, don’t run injured and have fun! Anyone can run a marathon.

My yard is a mess. When we bought the house 5 years ago the folk we bought it from landscaped it cheaply (read: cheap plants that grow quickly). This has lead me to have a constant fight with everything in the yard. I hate yard work as it is but I also travel extensively for work in the summer so it became a replica of the Munster’s house.
This weekend I decided I would redo the middle foundation bed in the front of the house. I forgot to take a BEFORE photo, but this is the after photo. I pruned, pulled up an incredible about of weeds, dug out old plants, laid landscape fabric, planted new plants, and put down mulch. This took up most of my weekend. Monday evening my sister came over and helped me finish it. I’m am so happy. Now I just have to get to the rest. The rest is a lot, but at least I have one nice bed in the front!
