More and more I have come to admire resilience.
Not the simple resistance of a pillow, whose foam
returns over and over to the same shape, but the sinuous
tenacity of a tree: finding the light newly blocked on one side,
it turns in another. A blind intelligence, true.
But out of such persistence arose turtles, rivers,
mitochondria, figs—all this resinous, unretractable earth.

I finally found an article on the outcome of the competition. My team took first place and is mentioned toward the middle of the story, but unfortunately there aren’t any pictures or details about our machine. Hopefully the event’s official website will post some.
It was a fun experience, and I’d like to do it again. Maybe I’ll have another opportunity at St John’s?
