I went to a consultation today, and I think I’m going to do it. For folks in the Raleigh, NC area – I’d recommend checking out the Blue Water Spa. I can’t attest to the quality of their service (though they do get great reviews online), but I can say they have an impressive record with community service. Every month they run a special that encourages involvement in the community (local on up). For example, in November everyone who joins the National Bone Marrow Registry gets 50% off all skin care treatments and laser services. That’s significant! They’ve also been running a food drive for a while – $50 off laser treatments if you bring in 10 cans of food.

How I did it: ("Better" being the operative word... I'm still improving.) Teaching. It just takes doing it. Being prepared helps calm your nerves. And you definitely should be prepared. But all the preparation in the world doesn't take the place of experience as far as actually having the opportunity to improve. Read how I did it…
How I did it: There are tons of simple actions that add up to wiser energy uses, from turning off the light when you leave a room to consolidating errands. We got the opportunity to downsize our living arrangements from a large three bedroom rental house to a lovely 2 bedroom apartment (with recycling on the premises!) and move closer to our places of school and work. The little actions took no time at all to institute, but the move was two years in the making. Read how I did it…
I’m planning on accomplishing 10 goals within the next month (some will take a full month) – like this goal which, I think, has been up since I joined the 43things community.
Sometimes a little intensity is what I need. I most need to focus on ditching television and my studies (and getting through at least one more book). I’d like a simpler list. And knocking out goals gives me the warm fuzzies.
This goal is constitutes one of my most constant failures. I’ll start small: no TV for a week, starting today.
In other news: this weekend has been my most affective stab at procrastination to date. It started off great – we went out with friends one night, took the pups to a dog park the next day, I ran recycling errands… But the weekend ended with me completely wasting hours and hours I should’ve spent studying, leaving me feeling like the proverbial shite.
Anyway. No point in dwelling. The next two weeks will be intensely busy with exams and a trip to New Orleans crammed in the middle of it all. So, focusing on my no TV goal couldn’t come at a better time.
