I am 18 and am not even close to being “mature”. I get mad when my parents dont let me do anything but now I am looking back at myself and realizing that in order to have freedom, I need to earn and deserve it. I also have temper tantrums when I dont get my way, and never clean up after myself. I have never had a job and expect my biological father to pay for everything, and I right now I am not doing very well in college.
I asked my mom how I can go about becoming more mature, and she said, “Take care of your responsibilities. Follow through.” And my step dad said, “Realize that youre not the center of the universe.”
Good advice. Today I am going to go buy a bookshelf to get my crap more organized, apply at McDonalds, clean out my car, mop the floors like I have been saying I will do for weeks, and maybe get some homework done.
I was invited to a party tonight but dont think I’ll go. There are more important things to be done that will have more benefits in the long run.

I have been vegetarian for about 4 years now. It was easy to do, I just quit cold tofurky one day after seeing an entire pig being roasted at a Scottish festival I attended.
I have flirted with the idea of going vegan.. read books about it. Tried it for a while. But now I am ready to give it up for good. My mom is probably the reason why.. she is starting a diet for her multiple sclerosis.
I think “vegan” is kind of a loose term. To me, it means meat free and dairy free. On top of that, I am cutting out gluten. However, I am not going to eliminate every single ingredient made from animal product. Yet, anyway.

I remember when I was little and my parents were going to WSU, I always loved the bug exhibits. I wanted to be a “bug doctor” when I grew up and would keep lady bugs and praying mantises. I also remember holding my very first tarantula… I was probably about 4 or 5 years old.
After moving from Pullman into the city I started to morph into a city girl.. hating bugs and yadda yadda. Now I am 18 and starting to love them again. I love spiders and slugs and snails. Ants too. I just think bugs are so interesting to watch.
I’d love to have a pet tarantula and observe its behaviors and take care of it :) They are just sooo cool!
