At the 6 month mark. Unreal how fast time travels.
One month down out in Bagram, Afghanistan; 11 to go. I love it here, despite missing home.
We live pretty modestly, despite a pretty major bump in circumstances about a year and a half ago. Until recently, we just used the slush cash- mainly on house items, tools, etc. I just can’t help thinking there is a smarter way to manage things- more planned, more organized. We have savings, but I think we can do a hell of a lot better, and damnit, I don’t want to be working in an office in 5 years, so I’ve been planning.
I set up a direct deposit on paydays to just move this money into savings- now all I have to do is not touch it, no matter how badly I want a reciprocating saw.
My daughter and I, we totally took this one on- sanded the walls, painted, built shelving- it was madness. It took us a weekend, but it’s finally done, except for new flooring and trim—- but hey, it’s organized, and that’s the most important bit. It is so good to have this finally taken care of.
I completely cheated. I got a new car. But I’m working hard at keeping this one tidy!
I started doing this in fall of 2006. I’m teaching it now! I love it- it’s all consuming.
Yeah, so the trash reaccumulated in the move. It’s okay. I cleared out the trash AGAIN! Now to get her detailed…
Throw out all the trash. Accomplished! Except I still need to go through all the CDs now. But those aren’t trash, so I can still count this as done. So next- CDs and then getting her detailed.
After a LOT of research, I bought a double treadle Ashford Traveller. It is amazing. I’ve also begun dyeing my own roving, too!
Working on my portfolio, getting my paperwork in line. It’s more than a little intimidating, but I want to get it done as soon as possible. I keep thinking it shouldn’t be a big deal, seeing as I already own all my own gear, but there is a lot of pushing and chasing involved.
