so at least I’m running again. 6 miles easy tomorrow after 4 miles Fartlek today. should be at least over 10 by the end of the season, and training on my own from there should get me ready for the Portland Marathon in 2007.

At the beginning of last Autumn’s Cross Country season, I couldn’t run a mile. By the end, I had run an 11:47 3k and a 20:53 5k.
Next season, those are going to shatter. :)
My advice: Get a plan, and stick to it. Stay around the same mileage every week. A couple hard runs, followed by a day of “rest” running after. (Run 45 seconds to a minute slower per mile.) Check your one mile times last in the week. On Sundays, do a long, slow run.
It’ll take you about three weeks to work up to a 5k, starting from one mile. Don’t do hard runs everyday, that’s how you hurt yourself. And don’t do run further than your plan says for you to do. You’ll hurt yourself that way too.
Hopefully I’ll be able to go with my school over Spring Break ‘07. It’d be awesome.
