How I did it: Wish, but do the work. We asked around for recommendations for agents. We met with the guy, and felt good. We took his advice, but also read books about the process so we knew the kinds of questions to ask. How I did it: I picked a dress I knew looked good on me - a classic wrap. I went online and looked at pattern reviews to find one that got good reviews and had pictures of other people's success. I got that exact pattern and some fabric I loved at a local sewing shop (and got my ancient sewing machine fixed) and set to work.
