While working at the Ritz Carlton in a little resort community in Southern Florida, the first friends I made were Lena and Judith. They went to school together in Prague and were basically the sweetest people I’d ever met, which being a misanthrope was a quite a surprise to me. Everyday they we’d have breakfast at the staff cafeteria and they would teach me little phrases in Czech. They moved back to Prague and told me to I had a couch waiting any time I wanted to visit. Well, I’m planning my first european trip next year, and I’d very much like to speak with my old friends in their native tongue. I have a good deal of work ahead of me. Wish me luck.

On Ebay I found a book by a woman named Gin Sander that’s actually entitled… you guessed it Wear More Cashmere! Of course,I bought it immediately.(It was used and therefore only 3 bucks)It has about 150 or so tips for adding a little glamour to mundane everday life. I have to say it’s brillant.I’ve been having a bit of a hard time getting started with this goal, mostly because I haven’t really been inclined to taking time for myself. This book is such a help, giving me ideas and helping me to think of it as more than a frivolous pursuit. Gin’s advice range from radically indulgent and slightly over the top to the brillantly simple and most of them are free or very inexpensive which perfectly suits my budget.
I threaded my Janome Hello Kitty machine not realizing what a pain the stupid plastic bobbin is. It became very frustrating very quickly. So,I bought 10 metal bobbins(I couldn’t find a smaller quantity there) at the Rag Shop and had to start the annoying threading process over again, but I have to say it’s much smoother going now.So far I’ve not actually tried to sew anything;I’ve just been practicing on scraps of fabric. There will be no patterns until I feel more comfortable using the machine. It feels so foreign right now.
