Always wanted to do this but due to lack of body confidence, I never had the “balls”. During my trip to Malawi I just thought fuck it! I’ve never felt so free in my life and gained more confidence in doing it…Might of had something to do with boys trying to sneak a peak!

How I did it: As I'm in my last year of school, the head of H.E. put out a notice for students to apply to go to Malawi. A couple of my friends did it two years ago and said how much they enjoyed themselves, so I thought why not? I went for just under a month and in some ways it didn't seem long enough. It was amazing to be living in Mulanje, Malawi and to go around different markets and having to cook and clean for ourselves. I painted in Luchenza C.D… Read how I did it…
Right, so I decided finally to get my septum pierced. I went to a tattoo parlour and he told me to not get my hopes up as my nose has something that might mean it cannot get pierced. Luckily, after the second attempt, he managed to pierce it through the “sweet spot” (by this time my eyes were watering like crazy). I don’t regret getting it done and if you’re thinking about getting it done, GET IT! I’m also 16 so I was legal to get it peirced and although my family seem to dislike the “metal bogies” my friends and I love it.
It’s also easy to hide as you can flip it inside your nose which is personally a bonus as it means I will still have a job!
