First step: learn to write and read devanagari 4 days ago

I have bought Teach Yourself Beginner’s Hindi, with audio (audio is important, as I am not living in India).

For the moment I have fulfilled the very first step, which is learning the alphabet. It is has been relatively easy. I still struggle sometimes to tell the difference between the different “d” and “t” sounds, and from time to time I find new consonant pairs I did not know previously. But I think I have already learnt the basics.

Now I have to keep working.

Cycle from Dublin to Madrid (read all 4 entries…)
Next year, but not giving up 4 days ago

For work reasons I finally could not start this goal in July, as I wanted. In August I will have other duties, so I am not going to be able to do this goal this year, as from September nights will be longer, and I prefer to cycle during the daytime.

However, sooner or later I will do this, as I think it is a pretty nice idea. I have been flying many times between Spain/Italy and Ireland, but I always did this in just two or three hours, which never gave me the real idea of what was the real distance.

Learn to identify plants, flowers, and trees
Verbascum thapsus 2 weeks ago

... or Common Mullein.

Today I have discovered what plants are those I meet every day in the bicycle lane when commuting to my workplace.

They are wonderful: tall, nice, with five petal yellow flowers. They suddenly seemed to come into existence last month (however, apparently they have been there for one year so far), and the landscape has got a nice summery yellow hue.

I blogged (in Spanish) about them.
