an experience like this would give a whole new perspective on what is important. becoming closer with people you love, learning about each other and the world. being relatively self sufficient and not using gps would be the way to do this, calling for help only if there was no other choice. the best part is, if you find a place to stop for awhile it can give you time to absorb some of the local culture.

got out a year ago, after 2 in iraq i figured it was time. don’t get me wrong, i love the corp but i loath the current use of our military. i have served my 4 years and loved just about every minute of it. i will say to everybody with this goal, know that you want it, know you can hack it, and put everything you have into it, you will thrive.
have you ever thought ” the world would be better if i were in charge ”? obviously you have, i could make the world a cleaner friendlier place with the proper people behind me. start small and then just keep expanding, it will take awhile and might not be finished by the time i die but my children will carry on. anybody want to join the cause?
