I’ve finally gotten the courage to switch from skiing to boarding. It’s frustrating at first to watch everyone whiz past while you struggle, knowing that you are better than them on skis. But once I overcame the learning curve, I fell in love with the feeling. Carving your turns down the mountain and flying past everyone is exhilarating.

Everything is always one step at a time, and you've got to start somewhere. Sometimes adults feel reluctant to pick up new hobbies because they are worried about others judging them, but it is important to get past that. Read how I did it…

Progress feels liberating
I just began swimming laps to train for a triathlon this week. Sure, it could seem like a phase, as I’ve just begun it. But the way I feel in the water is amazing, and my progress is fast. I feel very powerful in the water and I enjoy watching the bubbles come out of my mouth. It’s like I’m in another world.
