How I did it: it took me a long time to be able to find the right time to move from my little hometown in wisconsin to the big city of chicago. also i had to have the funds, and definitely the mindset. everything just fell into place and i knew it was the right time for me to come here. i've only been here for a month, but already i love it and know that it will be awhile before i want to leave and try something new again. there is just too much to see… Read how I did it…
How I did it: i tried to keep in mind each and every day that there are many things about myself that are completely good. my insecurities will probably never go away 100%, but i think what matters here is that i've learned to look past them, and only see the good things. and even love myself more because of them. Read how I did it…
so as i entered previously- in 2 weeks i am moving to colorado.
the biggest reason this will help me to live in minimalist fashion will be because i am going to be living in a tent.
i am both excited for this and nervous.
i am completely 100% sure that i can live in a tent for 4 months, but i am not completely sure that i can live in a tent for 4 months and not kill my boyfriend (who will be living with me), and my dog (who will also be there). i have never lived anywhere but in a house, and i am a little nervous about things like ticks and mosquitos, but what i am a lot nervous about are bears and mountain lions.
i am also getting rid of so much. when i think about the fact that i’ve gotten rid of two truck loads, and i am still finding things, i can’t believe how much i had, and how much i still have- even though its not all physical items.
i thought that doing without material objects would mean i was uncomfortable and in need, but the truth is i feel so much better, lighter, and happier now that i don’t have to traipse through stuff all over the floor all the time (even though the stuff i still do have is usually on the floor…. now there is room for it to be.) so as i continue to pack and prepare, and get rid of more junk, i will keep thinking about this goal, and how much it has already changed my life, and i haven’t even finished accomplishing it yet.
i am moving to colorado!
this is my catalyst!
i am so very incredibly motivated to
get rid of so many things.
things i thought i needed,
but don’t.
i have already started filling boxes with
things i am not taking.
now if only i can stick with it…. :)
