I’ve received my first set of books for the Adobe ACE courses and I have already finished 3 of the 13 photoshop lessons (yay!). I’m so excited about all the doors this could open in the future.
My plan is to become a Visual and Digital Design ACE Master. Which means I have to pass 6 of the 8 ACE certifications that Adobe offers.

I never seem to stick to anything so we’ll see how long this lasts… but for now I’m very excited and driven!

Do community service
do community service 21 months ago

I haven’t done any community service since I was in highschool. I’d like to do something like clean up trash or help at the humane society or help build a habitat house… I don’t know what I can do but I feel bad that I’ve not done anything like that in a long time.

Hike the hill nextdoor
Hike the hill nextdoor 21 months ago

I live by the foothills of the grand Rocky Mountains and there is this beautiful mini-mountain only about a quarter mile from my front door. I’ve never ventured out that way but I think there are few fences and I should be able to climb the silly thing without too many obstacles.
I want to picnic on the tip top of it, looking down onto the city below. I think that’d be fun. :) The next Saturday that it’s not cold or too windy I think I’ll drag my hubby up the hill for a little back-to-nature picnic.

ride my bike to work
Ride my bike to work 21 months ago

I only live a few miles from work but it’s a serious uphill ride on the way there. I’ve always wanted to ride my bike to work on a beautiful spring morning but have never gotten up the courage. I’m afraid I’ll not make it on time, or make it and be red faced and smelly all day.
Maybe I should do a test run? Maybe on a Saturday or after work one evening?
First I’ll have to give my poor old bike a tune up, I suppose. My step dad bought it for me one christmas when I was a preteen and it’s been fairly mistreated by myself and my little sister; spent many a night out in the rain and such.

Update, 6/9/08: I DID IT! I rode my bike to work (albeit it’s summer now and I’m off for the summer) but I made it! I’ve been riding to work just to get my exercise and meet one of my other goals: get healthy.
I believe my work here is done!

build my own house
Build my own house 21 months ago

I’m not talking I want to plan it and watch it be built. I want my own sweat and tears and laughter put into my home. I am adventurous but when it comes to home, I want a solid, secure, everlasting place to lay my head after an exciting jaunt.
I will buy the perfect spot of land and, how ever long it takes me, I will build my dream home on it. It may take me until I’m 60 but I’m okay with that :)
My home will be built of brick and stone. It will have tall ceilings, big windows and no more than 2500sqft. I’ll have a big workshop/garage where I can build and tinker.
It will be timeless, with rich colors and lots of earth tones too. Millions of plants inside and out, with a big coffee tree in the 20’ tall main living space. I want to feel like I’m living outside year round.
I want it to be self sustaining as well. I want to be completely off the grid. I’ll live off of solar and wind power, and reduce my carbon footprint. I know, sounds way granola, but it makes my heart melt just thinking of how wonderful it would be.
::closing eyes and imagining:: ... ::deep sigh::

Get healthy
Get Healthy 21 months ago

I’ve never been a bean-pole like my little sister, but I’m not a jabba by any means.
I just want to be tight and firm and fit. I’m tired of my belly jiggling more than my chest when I run. Mondo icky.
I have a fiance who loves me for who I am, but I want to do this for ME. For my self esteem, my comfort and for my health.
I eat pretty darn healthy, but binge randomly, and do very little exercise. I think I’ll take up dancing again… that got me pretty fit.

Update, 6/9/08: I’m off for the summer now (I work for the school district) and am focusing all my attention on this. I’m exercising like crazy and counting calories. I’ve lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks (water-weight, I’m guessing) and am on my way to a slimmer, trimmer me!
It was very hard to get started and will be a daunting task to keep up with it – but I’m determined. :)

I’ve always loved it. I do it on the side for the place I’m working currently. ...all I need to do now is get PAID to do it. :)
I’m working on getting Adobe Certified since schooling is too expensive right now. An online bachelors degree is $90k from the Art Institute! Are they crazy? The job barely starts around $40k.
Wish me luck! The program is a 1 year self study… here’s hoping I can follow through with something for once.

Buy a 4 door Jeep
Buy a 4 door Jeep Wrangler 21 months ago

I just drool every time I see one cruise past. The guys at the Dodge dealership laugh every time they see me come just to visit.
I will get the Stone White Rubicon with the dual top package so that I can go play in the mud like I used to do before shop class with all the 4×4-ing boys. I’ve never had so much fun!

Update, 6/9/08: Chalk it up to ‘growing up’ but now I realize I can’t in good conscience get a jeep while trying to be more green. I’ll just have to put this one on the back burner until the folks at Jeep make me a fuel efficient one. Makes sense, though, doesn’t it? Making a fuel efficient back-woods vehicle so you don’t have to come back to town as often? Someday they’ll realize it’d be a helluva selling point. :)

buy a stella scooter
Buy a Stella scooter 21 months ago

I’m trying to go green. I love vintage and character-filled paraphernalia – the Stella fits me like a glove! I will get the tangerine one and I’ll add either taxi checkers on it or a big white hibiscus sticker on the fender.
The only thing stopping me right now is $$, the usual suspect putting a damper on my dreams. ;)
I can feel the breeze in my hair now…

Update, 6/9/08: I have test driven several scooters now and have decided on The Buddy International Italia. It’s two shades of olive green with white walled tires – sooo sweet looking! I took to it like a fish to water and can’t wait until I can afford it. I’m more than half way there and just need two more months of saving and I’ll have her! .....now I need to get my motorcycle license. Gulp!

Buy land
Buy some land 21 months ago

I want to own AT LEAST 2 acres of beautiful land by the time I’m 30. I eventually want to build my dream house on it. I want it to be just a few miles outside of town, maybe near the foothills. It will have to have big trees and hopefully a stream running through or along it. I want a small haven to call my own. I want to be able to live without window blinds if I want to. :)
