I loved India. But try and stay away from all the places you just have to see. The Taj is beautiful, the red fort is great, khajarao, etc but everywhere you’ve heard of is overwhelmed with people seeing you as a sale.
Try to take time to meet people off the tourist path – Ladakh in the north or Pondicherry, Velanganni, Tirunevelli in the South are all great places (see the coast and the hill district).
Ladakh was by far my favorite. It is a place I see in my best dreams – take a trek if you can
