Starting Over
Ok, as I mentioned before, I’ve started this goal several times and never finished. The problem is that after stopping for a while, I’ll go back to the project and find I’ve lost my voice, lost my rhythm, lost my interest.
But I got a new idea today. One I’m really excited about. Hopefully with all the support I’ve been receiving from this wonderful community, I’ll stick with it this time and finish! So today is 1/23/2009. I’ll have to think about what my goals are. I work full time and have a family. I’m thinking three pages a day should be very manageable. Is it a lazy goal?

Ok, so apparently there’s this thing. When you think or say positive things, it sends a message to your brain to send good things – brain power, blood, antibodies, whatever, to whatever part of your body will be needed to accomplish those good things. Scientists are now finding that people with positive attitudes are actually more likely to beat cancer! So if you say “I don’t know how I’m going to meet this deadline,” your brain actually sends less resources to the part of your brain and body needed to meet the deadline.
It’s an interesting idea that is still being researched scientifically, but I’m willing to be a guinea pig. I’m going to have the strength, energy and creativity to make amazing things happen. I will see possibilities rather than obstacles.

I’ve actually been doing pretty well at this. When we had our first child, our husband fell into the unspoken arrangement of him doing all the cooking and cleaning and me doing all the child-care duties like diapers, laundry and baths.
I know, it’s a situation many women would be jealous of. But as he’s been moving toward becoming more involved in parenting chores, I hadn’t become more involved w/ cleaning chores. I was more part of the problem than the solution as I never did the dishes, and always left shoes, purses, clothes and papers lying about everywhere.
So I’ve been doing the dishes when I get the chance – about two or three times a week. Taking out the trash on trash days, and putting my things away. This was actually the hard part. What made it easier was to change clothes as soon as I got home. So I take all of it off and put it away as I do it, rather than taking it off as it bugs me and leaving it wherever I am. This has been especially helpful with jewelry, which until now has been strewn all over the house.
