Been doing it!

This is our fourth consecutive Sunday at church. The kids have really missed it and they are glad that we have been going regularly. It has definitely been worth making sure that I’ve prepared on Saturday for Sunday.
Our 4 year old gave her first talk in Primary today. (We attend a church where even children under age 12 are given the opportunity to give short talks in their Primary meetings.) The theme of the talk was “I will show my faith in Jesus by being baptized and confirmed.” My daughter delivered a wonderfully short, sweet & simple talk that went something like this:
Heavenly Father loves us and asks us to be baptized.
Jesus was baptized.
When I am 8, I will be baptized too.
I will show that I believe in Heavenly Father,
That I love him.
That I want to be obedient.
The Holy Ghost will help me choose the right.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
At 4 years old, she’s well on her way to being more comfortable in front of an audience, than I have ever been. It was a great day. :)

The love I receive from my kids is amazing. It is so pure and completely unconditional. My kids have never held a grudge or withheld their affection when they didn’t get what they wanted or after I had disciplined them. They wake up with enthusiasm for the day and already overflowing with love. I am so humbled to receive such an outpouring of love and affection through out the day and all without condition – kids are great.

I’m thankful that the dishwasher is broken. I came home from taking care of a client’s bookkeeping and there was 2 days worth of dishes for a family of 7 waiting for me in the sink. The dishwasher has been on the fritz a couple of days. I’m not quite sure when my husband will have the time to figure out what is wrong with it, but getting behind in dishes is just not a good idea when you have 5 young kids. So, I did it the “old fashioned way”. What is nice is that I asked my 9-year old daughter to help me by drying the dishes and we had a very nice hour long talk. It is hard to find one-on-one time for each of my kids and this was really special. I’m glad the dishwasher is broken. I’m looking forward to a nice long talk with my 7-year old tomorrow. :)
