I went on Semester at Sea, circumnavigating the globe in 1986 with college students. Fantastic way to see the world and learn from it. What’s lost in spending limited time in each country is more than made up for by intensity of experience and confluence across national boundaries and superb faculty from around the world.

These are really techniques that can be applied to many server-side web apps to create new functions. I’ll be applying what I’ve learned to new projects, and in a few cases to existing projects that need some new features where ajax techniques would be beneficial.

this was a great project, which for me included self publishing as well as writing. i had a sales channel already, and made a good income on the booksales. the real impact of what i’d done hit me when i was in a random bookstore and caught a glimpse of my books binding on a shelf. so many others had done work to move this product of my imagination and labor into this unforseen location, making it available to unknown readers. if i had down time for a period, or got a really strong urge to write book, i’d do it again.
