The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
My boyfriend recommended this to me and to be honest I was a little loath to try it as it’s a “classic” and I tend to be a lot more fond of contemporary books. It was great though! I really enjoyed it – it was very hard to put down.
He had several S books for me but no Ts in his house for some reason. It’ll have to wait til I get home. But it’s my birthday soon so I should be getting a U and maybe a W, X (I have a V planned already).

My father has cleared the overgrown yew tree that was hanging over it and we’ve both talked a lot about how we can get the herb garden going again. There’s not much sense in planting anything next time I am home, which is Christmas, but in the Easter holidays it will be spring and so hopefully we can make some progress then!

After two years of studying Mandarin, I feel that I can get by with it. Hopefully when I go to China on my travels after university (summer 2010) I will be able to increase my Chinese skills enough so that I feel I can call myself “semi-fluent”.
