I just started third year at University with a new roomie. I’ve experienced some bad friendships over the past two years as well as some bad roomates. For a time I thought it was my fault… but I’ve spoken to some old friends and realized that I was letting my so-called friends walk all over me.

I’ve let go of these friendships… but I’m finding it hard to move on. I’m a pretty chill, friendly person, but I feel very guarded. I guess I’m just afraid of being stepped all over, or meeting the wrong people. I want to make new friends, but I don’t know how to get over my ‘trust’ issues.

Last year, whilst applying for a position as a clothing manager for a fashion show on campus, I asked my friends for ‘one word that would describe me,’ (this question was asked on the application).

One friend came up with, ‘colorful and inspired.’ She told me she couldn’t exactly explain how I was so inspired, but just that I was.

Well I’ve tried to find meaning in her words… I suppose I am very inclined towards the aesthetics… and as sappy as this may sound, but I am easily moved by ‘pretty things.’ I find awe in the physical beauty of nature.. in the form of flowers, sunsets, the way the clouds are painted against a canvas of blues, pinks, and purples at night time… I could go on.

Although I am an inspired person, I wonder if I am inspirational. Perhaps through the action of being inspired, I am able to inspire others in turn?
