This goal is basically, “Get paid for doing nothing!” I don’t think anyone really minds if I read a picture book at work, though. I mean, I have to know what the hell some of them are about. So this goal is actually in part research for work. Anyway, this goal is really meant to be to read one a day, but I can only do so while at work, and I only work five days a week, and thus. I’ve already done this week’s, and I’d really just like to suggest that everyone read as much David Shannon as possible.
This week:- A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon
- No, David! by David Shannon
- Alice the Fairy by David Shannon
- The Rain Came Down by David Shannon
- Fancy Nancy by Jane O’Connor
- The Boy Who Cried Fabulous by Leslea Newman
A Bad Case of Stripes was by far my favourite. If I thought that there was a remote possibility that anyone I know would get it, I’d be that book for Halloween.
I can’t figure out if The Boy Who Cried Fabulous is meant to be a gay allegory. It seems so, especially considering that it begins with this:
When Roger started out for school, his mother set a simple rule. She said, “Now Roger, you go straight—straight to class, and don’t be late.”
I have alphabetised the shit out of this section. It will need it again tomorrow.
