move out of London in next few years
WHY did I take so long?

Now that I’ve done it I realise I should have done it 5 years ago! I would have saved SO much money, and I’d probably own my own house by now!!! (i.e. instead of the bank owning it!)

Sell my bicycle
Selling my bike?

You’d think that selling your bike was a bad thing!

See I had a bike that didn’t fit me.

I found this one in a pond in Germany – It looked like someone had stolen it and thrown it there.

I noticed it as I was walking past on a path in the forest – there were other bikes dumped in the pond too, but this one was glinting through the water in a different way – like it was something special.

I went back later that day with a friend and his car, we found sticks in the forest and used two shaped like a “7” to hook the frame and pull it out of the water.

It was an Italian racing bike – very nice, with expensive components and all alloy parts (that’s what had caught my eye glinting – not like normal chromed steel) – but, it was only 3/4 size – so it wasn’t big enough for me and the front wheel was a bit buckled so it rubbed when you spun it.

I thought about handing it in to the police, but they don’t even make an effort when someone’s car is stolen these days, so they certainly weren’t going to be worried about an old bicycle that was all slimey and stunk of pond weed.

I ended up getting my friend to box it up (after it had been washed down and dried out) and bring it over to England on the plane for me a couple of months later.

For the last 4 1/2 years it has been sitting taking up most of the space in the cupboard in my hall, with me promising to sell it and eventually buy a bike that fits me…

I didn’t want to go buying a bike while I still had that one – where would I keep it?

Now I’m getting ready to move out of this place, so the other week I finally bit the bullet and listed it on eBay – I ended up getting about twice what I’d hoped for, which I’m very happy about – maybe I’d have gotten even more if I’d listed it a few years back!

The guy who bought it is coming to pick it up this weekend.
He buys and restores bikes, so if I’m lucky I’ll be able to buy a bike from him – because we should ALL have a bike!

have clear skin
Got this one mastered! - keep your hands away!

A funny thing, I remember being told again and again as a teenager, but it never sank in.

When I finally figured it out I think I was in my early 30s…

If I’m strict about not touching my face with my fingers (if my face is itchy I use the back of my wrist or maybe my knuckle if I really have to rub it – or I wash my hands first…)

If I see someone with red patches on their face on the train I stop and watch them for a minute (yes people, we DO notice! – I don’t like to kiss someone who is covered in zits!) sure enough they all touch their faces with their fingers…

I wonder to myself…
.oO(Don’t they know what they’re doing? or can’t they control themselves?)

It’s like when you see unhealthily overweight people – have you noticed they are more likely to be A) eating in public (like walking down the street or sitting on the train) than other people… and B) eating unhealthy crap like Burger King or McDs (thanks Morgan Spurlock!)

For some it’s hard to accept that we are often the way we are as the result of our own actions, and the way to fix these things if want to change is to be strong and disciplined – some people can get really defensive about things like this… often it’s easier for them to be in denial than to practice self discipline.

People… these things go together!

The bus is full so you have to stand, the driver is throwing it around like a rally car and you’re loosing your balance, you can’t help it, you have to hold a handrail… the same rail that someone held before you… just after they were patting a dog… that had been grooming its fur by licking it with the same tongue that was licking its arse this morning… and then you use your same hand to touch your itchy face???

I’m not quite Howard Hughes, but I do like to keep my hands clean… If I’ve touched something that other people have been touching I can often feel the greasiness and want to wash my hands as soon as I get the chance.

Acne comes from bacteria, and if you’re out and about in public places touching germy things… be strong and use your won’t power when you feel the need to touch your face.
Maybe keep a clean hand and a dirty hand if you can… or use a clean tissue to rub with if you really have to rub.

From my mid teens to my early thirties I would get pimples… ever since I figured this one out and got firm with myself about it… woohoo! no more pizza face!

I’ve also helped some friends to do this too – and it really works for them – even the girls who get pimples every month because of their hormones from their cycle.

It’s about being strong with yourself and sticking to your discipline.

Also I find since I’ve been strict about not touching my nose or mouth I get a lot less colds.
Colds come from a virus.
If someone with a cold has sneezed somewhere there’s tiny droplets of virus carrying mucus in the air that settle on things.
If you touch those things and then touch your nose or mouth you are quite likely to pass that virus on to yourself.

I also 100% agree with best_kept_secret in the previous post – eating healthily – less sugar and crap (greasy foods, E numbers and stuff), and drinking more water makes a huge difference too!
