After more than a year of planning, I seriously thought this trip was going to be a letdown, but it definitely met and in some cases exceeded my expectations. The best part of it, though, was that it actually happened—I’d been dreaming about going to Thailand for years, but always assumed it was out of my reach. But now that I’ve made this dream happen (and have realized how easy it was to do), I feel like there’s a whole world of possibilities open to me. I’m already dreaming about future adventures in Peru (2008) and South Africa (2009).

I didn’t think I was going to live to check this one off my list, as three-fourths of the way through my ride, I suddenly became super-weak and didn’t think I was going to make it the rest of the way. At one point, I literally sat down in the middle of the trail. I think a snack might have helped…
Before I got to that point, though, the ride was awesome. I went through Rock Creek Park, which was amazing. I don’t really live near it, so I tend to forget that we have this gigantic national park in the middle of the city. I definitely want to ride through there again…but this time, I’ll pack something to munch on just in case.
I do! Finally, after months and months of dreaming and researching, my friend Bri and I bought our plane tickets to Bangkok yesterday—we head out on October 22. Now there’s just the small matter of deciding where to go and what to do during the two weeks we’re there…not to mention waiting the four long months until October!
