I smoked for a long time, not a lot, like one to three a day in the evening. Unless I was out, then it was a lot more. A few years before really quitting I decided I wouldn’t smoke if the sun was up. That helped me cut down a lot.
Then I decided even one or two a day was gross. So I bought two books: Quitting smoking for Dummies, and Hip Chicks’ guide to Macrobiotics (great for hip guys too) Both of these helped me Prepare to quit smoking and helped me get to the start date (as in start to live) and beyond. I found that when the time of day came when I’d reach for a cigarette, I fell fast asleep! For about three hours! So it kind of wreaked havoc on my social life. The smoking was obviously a stimulant and I let a few friends down because I was sleeping when i said we’d meet. So warn your friends and family that this might happen, or that you might seem a little curt. You’ll need all the understanding you can get.
Once you quit, take up a hobby, like yoga or whatever, you’ll have money to save since you aren’t buying cigarettes anymore, so buy an excercise course, or opt for the more pricey healthy organic food. Drink a tonne of water !!! this is very important. The sooner you flush out the toxins the better. If you need any support, let me know. I know how tough it is, but it is soooo worth it. Also, you might gain some weight, butyou can lose that if you decided to exercise. But you might spring for a great pair of jeans that will fit you while you’re quitting, a little treat for being brave.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
