I’m having doubts about this. You need to hire a support boat at a cost of c. £2,000 and if you want your swim to be ‘recognised’ by one of the Channel Swimming associations you can’t wear a wetsuit.
To spend so much in pursuit of this goal seems indulgent and putting recognition before common sense, viz-a-viz the wetsuit, makes me question my motivation: is this challenge for my own satisfaction or for glory?
I wonder what would be a good alternative swimming challenge?

I started running 18 months ago to train for a triathlon. At first it seemed like a chore but I have grown to love running and now I want to be a runner.
That is a bit hard to define so my specific goal is to be able to run a 10k in 45 minutes.
