I finished The Friday Night Knitting Club with a couple of days to spare in February. (Lovely and fun, but a little disappointing.)
Today, as I waited around in jury duty, I tore through half of The Palace of Illusions, by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. It is unbelievably fantastic, as are all her books (which I will soon re-read…and no, I won’t count that on my list!).
I don’t know what’s next yet, but somehow, working toward this goal is helping me feel as though I’m “back.” (Now if I just knew where I’d gone… :) )

I’ve been wanting to do this for about 20 years…seriously interested for 15! But the time, finances, or skills have always evaded me. I managed a purchase a couple of years ago…from a cheat who was also a poor seamstress (enough said).
Well, today I’m slightly improved in skills, less challenged for time, and much better off in finances. So this is the year it happens! Next weekend, I’m making a short trip to visit my amazing seamstress of a best friend, who will supervise as I make a peasant skirt. She has a bodice (and is very close to my size), so I’ll be able to try before I buy, and before faire.
I can’t wait…it’s a mini dream come true!

A little gift
My company does a chili cook-off each year, including a silent auction, to benefit an employee assistance fund. I decided to make up a crafter’s basket full of brand-new supplies: yarn, fabric fat quarters, stickers, etc.
I was able to do this – basket and stuffing included – completely from my personal stash. Over time, I have over-purchased supplies so badly that I could probably make four or five more. This was a good use to put my excess to, and a good reminder that I still have a long way to go.
My generous friend has unexpectedly moved away (though we’re still in frequent contact), so I’m back on my own, at least for now. I must remember to be my own Motivation…
