Dang it, but optimistic 1 year ago

Well, rather than throw up my hands I kept my data from the last two weeks of December to use for a baseline for my moving average. This week was not a good one. I believe my number one sin was that I did not write down what I ate, closely followed by what I ate. That said, I did not freak out and mow down is a mass fashion, and what I did was basically maintain, but what I want is to be going downwards. The usual extraneous excuses like work pressure apply, plus I am trying to shake a horribly tenacious cold / sore throat (hacking as I write this). I have used up one of the seven weeks I have to get to 200#. I didn’t totally flame out, and I am consciously aware of what’s going on. Deep breath, sigh, and continue on. I have full faith that I will hit my goal by my projected date. Following on from it are two more phases, ten pounds each, that will get me to my goal. Hopefully my environment will now help support my goal, given that the holiday season is now passed (no more piles of treats lying around).

Getting Things Done in 2007 1 year ago

OK – the book is done, the summary is done, and I have a decently vague idea of what I should be doing. Short of some more willpower I should be good to go.

I spent until past one AM last night getting all my work projects into my PDA, and putting like items together. I have categorized them as NOW, PEND and DONE (which is empty). I can now review my whole project landscape both personal and professional, and should be able to get my next action always at my fingertips. Time to get the rubber on the road, so to speak.

That and overcome some horrible procrastination habits…

Tripped out of the blocks 1 year ago

Two weeks of tracking my weight, and knowing that I am totally not doing the uber-macho privation I steeled myself for. Getting sick is a fantastic excuse to throw everything out, and then of course Christmas and all associated pig outs. On the plus side, my weight is exactly what it was two weeks ago, with no gain. I now have two weeks of data to start using for my averages, etc. and I will move forward, making a resolution on New Year’s eve. I am starting off the week with three very low calorie days to get myself going again. I have gotten an updated PDF of the Hacker’s Diet so that I can peruse it on my PDA in spare moments. I am certain that I am missing some of the fine points and will try to get righteous again. I am not going to go on a tangent trying to find some super cool XML-enabled Flash charting control, instead going with the tried and true MS Excel approach for the record keeping. In 2006 I got below 200 and then popped back up into the mid two-ohs (203-207) for the majority of the year. 2007 will see me get back under two hundred and keep it there.
