How I did it: I went to the gym 3-4 times a week & used the treadmill & elliptical. My goal at the gym was to do time duration of up to 2 hours, not high intensity, so I mostly power-walked. The day of the event, I ran, then power walked a bit. Then, around km 3, I picked a person about my age who I wanted to come in before. This motivated me to jog and run. How I did it: It only took me 5 years because it took me that long to take up the courage and realize it was do or die - I had a fantastic job with promotion potential and if I didn't do it then, I saw a dead end of moving up the corporate ladder. How I did it: I worked extra hours on top of a full schedule in school. By setting up a separate online savings account for the specific purpose (at no extra cost at my bank), I was able to monitor how much I had saved. I budgeted by finding out where my money was going and where I can save - I found areas where I could save $300 a month for the purpose of going to Europe. I found a RELIABLE friend to plan with.
