We stopped briefly in St. Louis en route to Branson in summer this year. The 4th of July fair was going on. My St. Louis trip is described here if anyone is interested.

I want to get this done too but I am scared, really scared. Not just of the actual procedure but also the consequences like: what if I end up being long-sighted instead, what will I have gained? A different type of glasses? What if I end up with halos? What are the long-term conseqences of doing this – like 15 years from now?

I also worry about the doctor: how do I figure out who is a really good surgeon? I don’t know anyone who’s had lasik. All the so called well-known clinics sound like a factory processing people on a conveyor belt.

I think when you’re scared, you tend to think of the worst. I haven’t really stepped out and looked into it – but I SO want to.

I live on the outskirts of Chicago in a far-flung suburb. Far but close enough to enjoy a trip downtown whenever we miss the city. We love the museums, Navy Pier, Devon (yum Indian food), Greek-town (delectable gyro, moussaka, baklava) and the fun shopping!!
