I'm Back In School or What Have I Gotten Myself In To?

Hey, I’m back in school. I am definitely happy and excited but now I actually have to the work. Paralegal Studies is no joke. It’s a year long program that I know will totally change and improve my life. I’m bound for law school and this is a step in that direction. I love this life and say do it if you’re called to do it. Here’s my seesmic video on the same topic http://video.seesmic.com/threads/1YGOyngiHe

One tip I can give you all is to get started on the work as soon as possible. Start off in a mode of action, not procrastination as these patterns are hard to break or begin the further one gets in their process.

School Starts Next Week

Finally, school starts next week. I am so excited. I had to postpone my enrollment for a few quarters because I didn’t have the money and refuse to take out anymore loans. Now, I have a job in my field that pays a lot better. This time next year I’ll be done with the program and have greatly increased my income. I know that my training and certification will aide me with my career and business as these areas of my life continue to evolve. I finally feel like I’m doing exactly what I want and am supposed to do in my professional life. Some people wait their whole lives just to do what they love. I say go for it, even if you’re off to a rocky start.

Another Debt Free Milestone

My debt originally consisted of a some smaller debts that amounted to over $1,000, credit cards and student loans. I’ve been chugalugging along. I’m so excited because I’m paying off the last of the smaller debts and can’t wait to get to the credit cards. I started off with no job or income channel. I am now current on all of my bills with a job that I love. I’m paying cash for school right now too. My credit cards will be paid off by the end of the year and all that will be left is student loans. I expect a nice increase in pay next year that will certainly get rid of those while I continue with my education. If I can do it, anyone can. It feels amazing! Just to give you some perspective, I started out with $1000,000. I still have a ways to go but am not fretting because things just keep on getting better every day.

I Paid Cash For School

I just used some of the money I saved to pay for school. I refuse to get into anymore debt. I’m watching it shrink and decrease on a regular basis now. I’m so excited! Saving money is really changing my life in a direct way, in fact it’s helping me get more money. Once I’m done with this Paralegal Studies Program next year, I expect a nice raise and big increase towards my debt snowball. Go money go!

Enjoy life at it's fullest
My Internal Tug & Pull

I sigh because I’ve been experimenting with blogging for a year now. This is something I’ve grown to love but am actually stepping up this year. Once I got the opportunity to help a friend with her blog I realized how powerful these things are. Holding myself accountable to my new blog is one way that I am enjoying life to its fullest because when I’m doing what I’m supposed to for this blog I don’t have that voice saying “you should be doing this…” or stopping the flow of enjoyment in my life.

Saving Money is Saving My Life

I’ve been building my income up so that I could actually save. I’ve finally gotten a big enough increase that I’m able to pay for school out of pocket. I’m getting out of debt and an not taking out any more loans. It feels amazing. I suggest saving for something specific like school or travel because this will motivate you to continue making progress. I am so excited about my income and expect it to increase again next month. I use ING because it allows me to set up automatic withdraws that I have going to specific accounts: one for emergencies, school, and travel. I simply budget these transactions in and pay cash when it’s time.

start a blog
Wordpress Woes

I’ve actually been experimenting with blogging for a year now. I had a WordPress meltdown and am currently using Blogger until I find someone tech savvy enough to help or I figure out my issue later. Besides that, what advice can I give aspiring bloggers:

-Blog about something you love (if you have multiple interests, don’t fight it just create content about them)

-Automate your blogging. Figure out ways to make adding content easier (like posting from 43things for example)

-Give yourself a trial run. Blogging can become a big passion if you love it. Give yourself a month to determine if you love blogging and where you want to go with it.

I’ve been experimenting for a year and have finally settled on a concept that I like and am going 100% with it this time. I’ll share my progress with you and answer any questions you may have.

P.S. I would like to switch back to WordPress later on. If you know about WordPress let me know :)

Why I'm Getting Out of Debt

I was inspired to write this brief entry this morning. About six months ago, I started asking myself if this is it. I started getting out of debt about a year ago. I knew right out of college that this is what I had to do because it felt awful not being financially stable at such an important time in my life. I’ve been molested and harassed. What I mean to say is, I’ve healed a lot of my past and am a lot happier now. What I discovered six months ago, is that my happiness doesn’t have to stop there. I don’t have to stop evolving. Because I’ve decided to evolve even more, I am experiencing tremendous growth. There’s no time like the present. Being in debt is something that’s not in alignment with the greatness that’s presently occurring in my life or what’s happening for me in the future.

It's Working: I'm Getting Out of Debt!

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything on 43 things (I’m looking forward to more interaction on this site). I’ve been busy working my plan. I’ve increased my income and got a job I really love as a legal assistant. Everything is going extremely well. I started an internet radio show and am sharing some of my debt free insights there and on my blog. One thing that’s worked for me is writing everything down on paper. I spend my entire check on paper and divide it up accordingly. I just paid off another debt this week. It feels great. I have a ways to go but know I’ll get there. I’ll keep you posted. I’m still exploring ways to increase me income (it just keeps on getting better). Dave Ramsey said he’d also do a feature show about expanding your income, you can find him at http://www.daveramsey.com.

Progress!

I’ve decided to participate in Cal State East Bay’s Paralegal studies program as a bridge to law school. So far I’ve gotten my transcript and written the outline for my admissions essay. Next week there will be an open house for the program and I’m attending it. I’ve scheduled time to write my essay next week as well.

I’m excited! I picked out the course I’m taking this coming quarter. I’m only doing one course this quarter because I’m finishing up some other classes. I know that I can easily manage 3 courses a quarter without getting too bogged down. It feels great to have a plan and execute it. This goal will soon be completed.

Education is the Key.

make money online
I'm A Blogger

I am a blogger who is just now learning how to monitize my sites. I have a 90 day goal to make money online and begin the shift to blogging full time. I’ve been blogging for six months and researching this goal for about 3 months. I have finally found some information that I can apply and see results with. I can’t wait to see the fruits of my labor!

It's On the Horizon

I can no longer work, go to school, and work on my business. I chose going to school and working on my business. Within 90 days I will have made significant strides towards this goal. I’m doing great and feeling great but know that things will be easier once this goal is accomplished.

My Mint is Minty!

I just opened my mint account. It’s awesome! Yes, this a must have tool for anyone tracking expenses. It’s so easy and very helpful. You can have all your account info. in one easy to use place. It also has a budgeting tool and gives you alerts when you need to check on things. I also love that it combines the amounts from all my accounts and lets me know how much money I have in one place. You can also track your debt in relation to how much money you have. Visit http://www.mint.com for more info.

My mint will be mintier very soon because I got a raise and am learning how to monitize my blogs. I’ll continue to save and eliminate debt. Credit cards and student loans, you’re going down!

Still Plugging Along

Since I last made an entry, I have made some changes and better decisions for myself. During my first entry I was a recent college grad still in school mode. Yes, I’m still in school mode but I have a different perspective of what school means for me now. I’m no longer interested in doing a full time program or doing business school. I’ve talked to a few people who did both law and business school and felt that it was unnecessary. I need more balance in my life and don’t want too much of my life committed to school or any other area of my life. Knowing what I know today, it’s better for me to do a Part Time Paralegal Studies Program first and then segway in to a Part Time Law Program. I’ve decided to do this because I need the money to pay for school and all the experience I can get as I travel on this journey. For Paralegal Studies I’ve decided on Cal State East Bay’s Program because it’s ABA approved and in my area. For my Part Time Law program I’ve decided on the University of San Francisco because it’s awesome, close, and they have a great bar pass rate.

I am a Successful Money Saver!

I’ve really gotten my act together; within the past few months I’ve been able to save over $500 for specific things that I needed. It feels really great to know that I can save for anything now. I’m not taking this off my goals list because I still have some large savings goals that I’m achieving but I have made tremendous progress!

My Mission

I am working on many goals, but this one is so important to me and in many ways is the reason why I’m doing everything else. I know without a doubt that helping people all over the world by teaching them about prosperity and money management related topics is my purpose. Helping people in whatever way I can is my purpose; but this particular way brings me so much joy and so much prosperity!

Until Next Time,
Kimmy B.

Transitioning

My undergraduate to graduate transition has been interesting. I could not wait to be done my last semester and here I am! I’ve started a business and am getting a better job in the process. Law School & Business School are on the horizon. I can’t wait to see what else I learn along the way.
